Connecting Norway and the Pacific
Born in Suva, at home in Stavanger. I bring people together around the things that matter: community, culture and the ocean.

What I do
One meeting leads to the next. Linking people across the world with common interests is what I do best.
Founding chair (2024–2026) and now board member of Terran Community, a place of belonging in Stavanger where hundreds of people share skills, test ideas and make friends. Gallery manager and community projects at Rogaland Kunstsenter.
Fiji-born, back home in 2026 after more than twenty years. Building links between Norwegian and Pacific people, organisations and ideas.
When children meet the ocean, they want to protect it. And if you work with women and children, it just makes the whole world a better place.

Josephine "Josy" Kang was born in Suva, Fiji. Her mother's family is from Lomaloma and her father's from Levuka. She studied journalism, writing and English at the University of Queensland, and later earned a postgraduate diploma in marketing and strategic human resource management from Monash University. For twenty years, from 2006 to 2026, she ran her own business as a post office licensee in Australia.
Since 2015 Josy has lived in Stavanger, Norway, where she has become part of the city's community and arts life. She was the founding chair of Terran Community from 2024 to 2026 and is now a board member, and at Rogaland Kunstsenter she has worked on audience development, the garden, the library and projects with art students and visiting artists, and most recently as gallery manager for exhibitions. She also volunteers at Stavanger Kunsthall.
Coming home to Fiji after more than twenty years, Josy now wants to build bridges between Norway and the Pacific through the ocean, the sustainability goals and work with women and children.
"When children care about the ocean, they want to protect it naturally."Josy
2026 journey
In 2026 I travelled as international spokesperson for the Norwegian organisation Bike for Peace on its 50th-anniversary journey around the world.
Before the journey I helped coordinate the delegation's programme in Delhi with WISCOMP (Women in Security, Conflict Management and Peace), an initiative of the Foundation for Universal Responsibility of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, at the India Habitat Centre. I did not travel to India myself.
